REEL EARTH FLIP IT VIDEO CONTEST

WHAT: A contest. (The winner gets a $100 Best Buy gift card.)

WHERE: New Orleans. (Or anywhere, really)

WHEN: Now. (Videos must be completed and uploaded by January 25, 2009).

Using your Flip cameras, make a video that addresses the following purposefully vague question: What do you want people to know about New Orleans?

Feel free to tackle the good, the bad, and/or the ugly. Be as creative as you possibly can. Tell us what you want us (and everybody else) to know.

Reel Earth: New Orleans

Remedee is breaking ground with today's launch of Reel Earth in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Reel Earth:

Reel Earth is a global program to enable young people to collectively create a series of documentary films that explore the link between global environmental degradation and their own personal realities. The tone is urgent yet hopeful, inspiring participants to rise to action, as well as generate awareness among their peers, consumers and policymakers.

CAMP LAAMS. The Joys of Poor Attendance

After a two-week breather, the Remedee team was recharged for LA Academy Middle School day camp, ten days of extreme film and media literacy action. The sights, the sounds, the documentaries, the lesson plans, and (finally!) enough equipment. We’d gathered it all for our classroom of highly select student participants.

At 10 AM we strode into Jason Duchan’s familiar classroom, filled with the sweet sound of waiting students…

Scratch that. Student… singular.

A lone computer illuminated Dylan. He threw us a wave before returning to read about the new Weezer album.

“I’m surprised anyone showed up.”

Philosophy

Remedee is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that believes that everyone has a story, but too few have the opportunity to tell it. Our mission is to empower underserved youth with the resources and education to thoughtfully share their worlds through documentary filmmaking and new media. By giving young people of the world access to a voice, we strive to educate and empower our next generation.

We are currently raising funds for our Reel Earth program. All donations are tax-deductible!
