Exciting news!

Six student films have been selected for the National Film Festival for Talented Youth: An Unsolved Environment, Wise Words, The Water, The Dead Zone, Go-ing Green and My Quinceañera.

WHAT: A contest. (The winner gets a $100 Best Buy gift card.)

WHEN: Now. (Videos must be completed and uploaded by January 25, 2009).

Using your Flip cameras, make a video that addresses the following purposefully vague question: What do you want people to know about New Orleans?

Feel free to tackle the good, the bad, and/or the ugly. Be as creative as you possibly can. Tell us what you want us (and everybody else) to know.

THE RULES

STEP 1: Visit remedee.org and click on the "Log-In" button in the lower left-hand corner.

STEP 2: Select the "Create New Account" tab.

STEP 3: Select a username, create your personal profile, and click the "Create New Account" button.

On November 1, the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts hosted "Reel Earth: A Green Carpet Event"--the world premiere screening of six powerful short films produced this summer as part of Remedee's Reel Earth program.

Thank you to all our friends and supporters for making our event at Quiksilver's SiteLA a huge success! Remedee teamed up with GOOD to debut our organization to a do-gooder crowd in Los Angeles. The turnout was great and the audience was captive as we projected a sampling of our kids' Reel Earth: New Orleans films onto the walls of this cool loft space.

A captive audience

In the spirit of Remedee's vision to inspire global change through a local lens, this week we brought Reel Earth: New Orleans participant Crayola to CivWorld's Global Interdependence Youth Summit in Brussels, Belgium.

Who:  Remedee + GOOD

What: Please join us for the debut of Remedee, a nonprofit organization that seeks to amplify the voices of the next generation by providing youth with the resources and education to create change.

Featuring: Free cocktails & music accompanied by an introduction to Reel Earth: a series of short documentaries created by New Orleans youth on the environmental issues impacting their lives.
